Case study

Lumos

Challenge

Built for Speed

Over a 4-year journey North State Communications, now rebranded as Lumos, evolved from a local company to a regional enterprise that markets a superior fiber internet product. During this entire time frame Wildfire was retained as their interactive and strategic partner rebuilding and evolving 2 websites (due to merger & acquisition).

NorthState’s website was on an aging platform with limited CMS capability. They could not promote their products and services in a timely fashion, and the site had limited functionality to process orders and service changes online. The merger/acquisition was due in part to the NorthState website capability with full eCommerce giving them a leg up on other “local” providers. An enterprise level website was needed due to merger and acquisition/brand consolidation that had sophisticated back-end processes to support new customers in diverse regional markets and legacy customers until conversion.

Strategy

Modernizing a Large Tech Company

A fully integrated consumer website was launched with Lumos rebranding that interfaces with multiple OSS and BSS platforms to support end to end eCommerce transactions in multiple markets. These advanced capabilities are generally only seen in very large-scale ISPs. The new Lumos website will serve as a jumping off point for further expansion in new markets.

Results

Igniting Growth, Empowering Success.

The 2020 merger brought the challenge of combining the Virginia and North Carolina customer bases and rebranding as Lumos Networks. By 2023, the Lumos brand was fully crystallized with a website that supports the newly developed back-end and operational business support system.
